IFTTT update: Ridesharing, smart watches, air monitoring & more — new on IFTTT

It’s hard to decide what’s more exciting: adding a new service to a robust category, such as smart lighting  — or launching a service that’s the first of its kind. Luckily, we don’t have to choose, and July saw new service launches in both groups! Here’s what’s new.

Smart home systems

People have never had so many different ways to manage and monitor their homes — you can create a truly customized environment. In July, Amdocs Connected Home and Smart Life launched to bring you new possibilities.

New appliances and accessories

Of course, your smart home system needs to be integrated with different appliances and devices. This month, Blueair added to their range with the Classic i air purifier. You could pair it with our newest smart lighting service, ilumi, to get a visual cue if there’s an air quality issue.

Parents need connected homes, too — iBaby launched in July to help you better monitor your little one’s environment. Too sunny in their room? Link Shades, new on the platform, can help keep things shady and cool.

Smart routers

This growing category saw two new entries in July: TP-Link Router and ASUS Router. In addition to prioritizing devices, you can use them to monitor how and when people connect to your network.

Connected timekeepers

Old-school style meets new technology: Kronaby’s luxe watches help you run Applets at the push of a button. Not on the go? Glance Clock brings information to you via a sleek, minimalist design — connect it to IFTTT to display everything from the weather to sports scores.

IFTTT firsts: ridesharing, tea kettles, pillows, and machine learning

The Uber service launched just a few weeks ago, and it’s already making an impact. While you’re waiting for your ride, why not brew up a quick cup of tea? Appkettle’s the first connected electric kettle on IFTTT.

Prefer coffee? The first smart pillow on IFTTT, ZEEQ by REM-Fit, has an Applet that can tell your coffeepot to start a brew when you wake up. Finally, Mateverse also came online in July. It's the first service in the machine learning category. It's taking the concept of “smart devices” to a whole new level….

Coding education and weather monitoring

Alright, we admit it — some months not everything fits into neat and tidy groupings. But we didn’t want to wrap up without highlighting these two cool services! EveryKit, based in Korea, is a complete kit designed to teach children to code. Their Applets work with their course material. Ambient Weather’s service works with your weather station to give you detailed insights into your environment. You can turn on Applets that work with temperature, rain, wind speed, UV levels, and more.

...but that’s not all! To round out the month, our engineers made some big updates to two popular services: Dropbox and Vimeo. If you’re a current user of either service you don’t need to do anything to reap the benefits. If you haven’t already connected them, now’s the time to give it a go.

While you’re connecting all of the above, we’re hard at work helping new services join the platform. Stay tuned — we’ll be back in September to share what launched in August.
